The solutocapillary Marangoni convection around a gas bubble in the inhomogeneous binary mixture of miscible fluids with a vertical surfactant concentration gradient was studied experimentally. A new phenomenon, the oscillatory instability of the surfactant mass transfer, near the bubble boundary, was detected and investigated. The interpretation of this effect as an interaction between the surfactant adsorption at the bubble free surface and solutocapillary and buoyancy convective mechanisms is proposed. The experimental data on oscillation period in relation to bubble dimensions, time, liquid layer thickness, physico-chemical fluid parameters and concentration gradients are presented and discussed. We demonstrate that it is expedient to use the complete expansion of the potential in terms of strain gradients for materials whose deformation is described by Murnaghan's potential. The cubic terms are retained in the constitutive equations, in addition to the classical quadratic terms. An analysis of the nonlinear system of wave equations reveals that the third harmonics can be generated. As an example, the nonlinear interaction of plane waves is analyzed for the following three cases of waves entering a medium: (i) a longitudinal wave, (ii) a vertically polarized transverse wave, and (iii) vertically and horizontally polarized transverse waves  相似文献

Measurements in grid turbulence with a three-component hot-wire vorticity probe are compared with results obtained from a direct numerical simulation of decaying homogeneous turbulence at a similar Reynolds number. There is adequate agreement for both spectra and probability density functions of all three vorticity fluctuations. This supports the treatment of the measured data, in particular the corrections that need to be applied for the finite spatial resolution of the probe. The comparison does, however, highlight some inaccuracies in the way the instantaneous dissipation rate fluctuations were obtained experimentally.  相似文献

The theory of plane waves in nonlinear materials described by the Murnaghan potential is proposed. The theory takes into account both the classical quadratic nonlinearity and the cubic nonlinearity of the basic wave equations. Some new opportunities for the wave interaction analysis are commented on: in addition to the second harmonics, a longitudinal plane wave generates the third one, a transverse plane wave generates the third harmonics, and horizontally and vertically polarized transverse plane waves jointly generate new waves  相似文献
